All India Radio,
Agartala is the main station of the state of Tripura located in the heart of
the city. The station was commissioned on 26.01.67 as an auxiliary
station become full fledged on 19.04.74. with 20 kw (2x10kw) power
of transmitter. This station has been broadcasting various types
of programmes in three transmission daily. The programs are mainly
in Bengali and Kokborok (Tripuri) dialect. Of course Hindi,
English and other tribal dialects are also broadcast
from this station.
For the last 4
decades, from the time when watching TV was considered as a luxury,
AKASHVANI AGARTALA has been providing
us all sorts of entertainment, news, weather forecast and other
public utility programmes with the motto of "Bahujan hitaya-
Bahujan sukhaya".
